Introduction

Livezile is a commune from Bistrița-Năsăud County, Transylvania, Romania, which located approx. 8 km east of Bistrița. Livezile commune is gateway to Țara Bargaelor and it has always been a thrifty locality. The commune was developed on the ancient Romanian limes, marked by the earth camp in the north of the current locality.


The history of the society of these lands falls in the tumultuous history of Transylvania and of Romania. There have succeeded throughout the history all the known social ordinances, accumulating a rich material and spiritual civilization. In the archaeological excavations made on the village territory, were discovered traces of Roman Camp from earth, even older Dacian traces, over which was placed the Roman civilization.


Livezile commune comprises five villages: Livezile, Cuşma, Dorolea, Dumbrava and Valea Poienii.
